skygard3n3r asked: Thanks for trying but that isn't the one. The content of the painting has the fisherman in the mermaid's embrace and if i remember correctly she is entwining his legs with seaweed. Thanks for this. I have searched but to no vail.

Oh, maybe some followers could help us?!

Henry Scott Tuke
All Hands to the Pumps
1888
Oil on canvas
Tate Britain
___
This picture shows a ship that has lost one of its sails, and is being swamped by a storm. The crew desperately pump water out of the hull. When he painted this picture Henry Scott Tuke was living aboard an old French brig anchored in Falmouth Harbour.Tuke had lived in Falmouth as a boy, and visited since, but he left London in 1885 to settle there permanently. He was encouraged to move to Cornwall by the Newlyn school of open-air painters. He focused mainly on painting the male nude in the open air, but also produced marine subjects like this.

This is one of the last paintings Tuke did before he died in March 1929, of the semi-clad male figure by the sea leaning on the rocks, bathed in Cornish sunlight. It features one of his most loyal and longstanding models in Tuke’s later years, Charlie Mitchell (1885 – 1957).

Dorothea Tanning (1910‑2012)
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
1943
Oil on canvas
40,7 x 61 cm
___
“By the door of the ranch Tanning planted some sunflower seeds and she became fascinated with these plants. She saw the sunflower in Eine Kleine Nachtmusik as ‘a symbol of all the things that youth has to face and to deal with,’ and it represented the ‘never-ending battle we wage with unknown forces, the forces that were there before our civilisation’. The apparent intervention of unexplained or supernatural forces in Eine Kleine Nachtmusik recalls characteristics of the Gothic novels that Tanning read in her youth, and which were admired by many of the artists and writers of the surrealist group with whom she associated in the 1940s and beyond.”

Pablo Picasso (1881‑1973)
Jeune femme en chemise
1905
Oil on canvas
72,7 x 60 cm
___
This waif-like girl is among Picasso’s cast of people from the margins of society. A melancholic mood is conveyed with veils of paint. The chemise accentuates, rather than disguises, the slenderness of the girl’s body that the painter shows as sexually desirable. She is fragile, perhaps sickly. Her delicate pink flesh evokes the skin-colour that Picasso’s friend Guillaume Apollinaire identified among street performers: ’that purplish pink one finds on the cheeks of certain fresh young girls close to death’.
